Twofer Card Challenge #38 – Cake/Cupcake

Hello … bonjour! Welcome to our yummy new Twofer challenge for May, where we’re inviting you to dig out your scrumptious stamps, dies and/or stencils and join us to enjoy some …

That yummy looking cake stamp (the common image on both cards) is from Reverse Confetti … it appears just as intended (along with one of it’s accompanying alligators) on my birthday card … and on the hello card, it’s been dressed up with the help of a little masking and subsequent doodling! How about a closer look at each one …

The central design here ensures the cake is the star of the show. It was masked and stamped onto some mixed media card stock, I doodled those extra layers of chocolate ganache and the cherry on the top … and coloured it with alcohol markers. There are lavish coatings of shimmer and shine on the ganache and cherry too … tricky to capture … and more visible on the first photo. The two word sentiment is shared between Simon Says Stamp and Winnie & Walter (sadly NLIB). The panel was mounted onto a couple of layers of vellum, popped up on craft foam and adhered to a mixed media card base that had been embossed with a Spellbinders die. You’ll notice that the vellum went a smidgy bit wobbly round the edges after it was dry … must be all that luscious ganache that did it … couldn’t have been anything to do with the wet adhesive I used!

My second card is clean, fun and whimsical …

Another simple design, with the heat embossed images and sentiment laid out along the bottom half of a watercolour card base. Everything was coloured with Zigs and a water brush … and I gave the alligator a dry embossed pathway to walk on … firstly to ground him … and secondly so he could advance on that birthday cake easily!

How about choosing a cake/cupcake image from your stash … to make two distinctly different designs … for two different occasions … we’d love to see you (and your cards) in our gallery!  All the details, rules and FAQs are over at the Twofer blog … together with heaps of delicious inspiration from the DT as well as from our super talented Guest Designer, Janet from Swanlady Impressions. Do go and have a gentle meander around Janet’s blog … there’s so much loveliness to enjoy and be inspired by … and you can always say hello while you’re there!

My piled high cupcake is going over to …

Looking good, Anita! Although I wouldn’t want to tangle with the alligator/crocodile for a bite of his cake. LOL Hope you are well! Thanks for sharing.

I’m adding cake decorating to your list of talents, Anita! Well done, you! I have always loved that Croc – but I’m going back to look at the set, because I’m wondering if you also doodled that wee cherry on top? Which would make you a chief craft and cherry doodler, too!
Adorable, and oh so fun! xx

Mmmm, delishousness abounds, Anita! You might not be a baker, but you can doodle me a edible paper cake any time! Great job, perfect sediment, awesome glossification, and I love the vellum matting! Your croc is a delight! I would definitely not get in his way as he is single-mindedly heading for that gorgeous cake! Love the grounding/highway! LYAMYMA! HTCS! Hugs, Darnell

Mmmmm….cake….! But, pardon me, you doodled the ganache???! Dang girl! If I had tried that, my recycle bin would have been overflowing! I actually like the wavy vellum – it adds another textural dimension to your card. And that little ‘gator is adorable. I’m going to have to pull that set out and see what I can come up with – you’ve inspired me, my friend!! Pretty sure the grands would like it! Cool here for early May, but the hot weather is just around the corner. Hope all is well with you. Miss you. Sending hugs. xoxo

Your Hello card with the layers of doodled cake look fabulous and I’m loving the wavy vellum layers and embossed framing too! And your croc cake card is ADORABLE!! He looks very intent on getting to that cake and I’m glad I’m not in his way!! Cute, CUTE cards my friend!! Hugs. :0)

I am in love with that crocodile, of course! How fun is that?!!!! Now this is an awesome Twofer, although I don’t really care about the cake – much too small for me, LOL!

It is always a joy to see your cards, Anita. You’ve done an excellent job with masking the cake on your first card. Vellum frame looks super. I like that it is a little wobbly. It gives the dinamic to the card. Cute aligator walking to the birthday card is so sweet. Fantastic idea for a child birthday. I like the border you gave him twalk on.
    Stay safe! Hugs, Sonja

Such sweet images – I’ve never seen that set before. The dry embossing gives just the right amount of detail as does the layer of vellum. It always gives me the irrits when vellum goes all crinkly but it looks like it’s part of the design here!
